What can explain the negationism of politicians and religious leaders during the recent pandemic? What is the relation between disbelief in one's own death and belief in various saviors? We will address these questions by examining Brazil under Jair Bolsonaro's Trump-inspired government.

Betty Milan is a widely published and translated Brazilian author of novels, plays, essays, and crônicas. After earning a medical degree in São Paulo, she pursued a formation in psychoanalysis in Paris under Jacques Lacan. Analyzed by Lacan, recently translated and published by Bloomsbury, brings together her memoir Why Lacan and her related play Goodbye Doctor.
