Psychoanalysis in the Institution — Ona Nierenberg

Joan Miró, The Tilled Field, 1924

This clinical group will be oriented to the unique challenges and opportunities we encounter in hospitals, clinics, prisons, treatment programs, schools, and other institutions. We will explore the often surprising possibilities the analyst has to create and sustain space for the singular even in settings dominated by claims to the universal. Open to those currently working clinically in or with institutions.

Dates: Meetings will take place monthly on Sundays beginning in October, time and dates to be determined.

Location: To be determined.

Registration: Please contact Ona Nierenberg at onierenberg@gmail.com or by phone at (917) 804-2467 to discuss your interest in participating.

Ona Nierenberg practices psychoanalysis in NYC. She is a former senior psychologist and director of HIV Psychological ‪Services at Bellevue Hospital and clinical instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center. A member and faculty member of Après-Coup, she is also an Overseas Member of APPI, Dublin and an Honorary Member of Lacan Toronto.  Her essays on psychoanalysis and culture have been published internationally.
